State offices close early today due to snow

In a release issued just before noon today, the state of Michigan announced that all lower peninsula state offices would be closing at noon due to snow.

Most of metro Detroit is expected to see snow through Thursday. Follow the latest forecast from the 7 First Alert Weather Team here.

In the state's advisory regarding office closures, Governor Rick Snyder said, "The heavy snowfall across much of Lower Michigan presents hazardous situations that demand caution and preparedness."

The office closures for Wednesday, February 24, 2016 also include the local Secretary of State offices where many go to renew license plates and driver's licenses. The Secretary of State issued a reminder that many of those renewals can be completed online at www.ExpressSOS.com.

The state also noted that water distribution sites in Flint would remain open in spite of the snow. Their regular hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
