(WXYZ) — A man was arrested after allegedly driving drunk and causing damage to a Michigan State Police trooper's car.

Police say on Thursday morning, troopers were dispatched to Dixie Hwy near I-75 in Springfield township for a two-car crash. One trooper pulled his patrol vehicle behind the involved vehicles.

The driver of a 2003 White Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 45-year-old man from Lennon, backed into the front of the trooper's car. The trailer hitch damaged the front bumper and the push bumper was also bent.

Police say the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol; he was arrested.

The suspect has three prior alcohol violations, 2 prior additional suspensions, and is currently on a suspended license.
