With Veterans Day around the corner, one animal shelter offers free adoptions to those who served our country.

They call it a win-win.

Volunteer Andrea Dabbs said, "Seems like it's never ending. One dog goes to a home and we get two or three more in that day."

She says volunteering at Brownstown Animal Shelter is a rewarding but emotional experience.

"Working with these animals and getting them to trust you and finding them that perfect home that they didn't have before."

But the shelter is at full capacity which means they cannot take in more animals in need.

There are 16 dogs and more than 30 cats.

But the shelter figured out a way to find them a home. offering them for free to veterans.

"It's a win-win for both of them."

The adoption fees for dogs are normally $70 and $55 for cats.

Several veterans have already come by and took home a pet for free.

"We had a couple of disabled veterans come and adopt from us and just seeing the look on their face when they hold that dog or cat is great."

Brownstown Animal Shelter is hosting an adoption event this weekend or you can just stop by their shelter.

You can also browse through their adoptable animals on their Facebook page.
