We celebrate teachers every week with Ann Marie’s All Stars- and this teach appreciation week is no different.

This week we’re honoring a principal an entire the Brandon School District has fallen in love with.

Mr. Bill Renner starts every student’s day at Harvey Swanson Elementary with a smile and a high five.  He’s the All Star parents in the district say they have been waiting for for years.

“Harvey Swanson Elementary in Brandon Township has never been so blessed,” parent Amanda Quinlan said.  “Principal Bill Renner was the missing puzzle piece in the school that we needed.”

In just his first year at parents say Principal Renner has changed everything.

“Everyday, what you see is what you get literally,” Quinlan said. “High fives and encouragement, you know everything you hope a principal would be at an elementary school.”

And he loves his students just as much, so much just talking about them brings him to tears.

“Every single one of you is worth it,” Renner said.  “Everyday I come to work I’m excited to be here with these teachers and staff members with these kids, you make my day, I love it each and every day.”

From dressing up like Buddy the Elf to Oscar the Grouch, students say they can’t wait to come to school each day.

“I think he’s nice and he’s kind and he’s funny and he jokes around with a lot of us all the time,” student John Quinlan said.

Even though Principal Renner has been such a hit with teachers parents and kids, his first year at Harvey Swanson Elementary will also be his last.

“He won’t be returning to our school next year due to budget cuts in the district,” Quinlan said.

So for now, they’re making the most of the rest of the year using this, too, as a lesson for his students to persevere no matter what life throws at you.

“It’s going to be difficult but we’re going to just plan for the best with happiness and a great high five as I walk out the door,” Renner said.

Congratulations Mr. Renner!
