Another weekend of shootings in Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are investigating another round of shootings in Detroit over the weekend.

Here is preliminary information from the Detroit Police Department:

Non-fatal shooting on Casino/Whitehill

On June 27 around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Casino and Whitehill, the 22-year old male victim was walking on Casino when he allegedly heard shots and felt pain.

The victim was privately taken to the hospital and treated for a grazed gunshot wound to the body. He was stable.

Suspect is unknown at this time.

Arrest in non-Fatal Shooting on 16400 block of Hartwell

On June 26 around 10:40 p.m. in the 16400 block of Hartwell, the 15-year old male victim was allegedly playing with his relative’s (23-year old male) weapon.

When his relative attempted to take the gun away from him, the gun discharged, striking the victim.

The victim was taken to the hospital and listed in temp serious condition. His relative was taken into custody and transported to the Detroit Detention Center without incident.

Critical Accident on Sheridan/Mack Ave

On June 26, 2020 around 10:25 p.m., the 46-year old male victim was walking to his vehicle that was parked on the north side of Mack when an unknown driver of a tan vehicle traveling east on Mack, allegedly struck him and continued going.

The victim was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition.

Fatal shooting on the 19100 block of Ohio Street

On June 26 around 10 p.m. in the block 19100 block of Ohio Street, the 40 year old male victim was sitting on the porch when an unknown suspect approached on foot and allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim, striking him.

After the shooting, the suspect fled on foot south towards W. Seven Mile Road.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

On-Duty accident involving police on W. Chicago and Braile

On June 26, 2020 around 9:20 p.m. the unknown driver of a White Nissan Pathfinder was traveling north on Braile when the driver allegedly disregarded the stop sign at W. Chicago and Braile and struck a scout car that was traveling east on W. Chicago and continue north on Braile.

The scout car lost control and hit tree and caught on fire.

The officers inside the vehicle was removed safely and transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Both were listed in stable condition.

Suspect has not been arrested at this time.

Non-fatal shooting on St. Paul and Helen

On June 26 around 9:10 p.m. in the area of St. Paul and Helen, the 41-year old male victim went to the location to visit friends.

While visiting, he greeted the suspect and accidentally broke the suspect’s glasses resulting in an argument that escalated into the suspect producing a weapon and allegedly shooting the victim.

The victim drove himself to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Homicide investigation on the 11800 block of Elmdale

On June 26 around 8:15p.m. in the 11800 block of Elmdale, the body of a 19-year old male was discovered inside of a vacant dwelling wrapped in carpet.

Medics responded and pronounced the victim deceased. Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.

Non-fatal shooting on Joy Road and Evergreen

On June 26, 2020 around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Joy Road and Evergreen, the 27-year old male victim was allegedly in the rear of his relative’s vehicle stopped at a light, when he heard multiple shots and realized he was shot.

The victim was privately conveyed to the hospital where he was treated and listed in temporary serious condition. Suspect is unknown at this time.
