(WXYZ) — We are gearing up for another winter storm followed by dangerous cold invading metro Detroit this week. Watch for the snow to begin shortly after 4 a.m. Monday and continue throughout the day.

Widespread snow will become heavy during Monday morning's commute creating hazardous driving conditions. Gusty southwest winds will cause blowing and drifting snow with reduced visibility.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Lapeer and Sanilac counties from 4 a.m. Monday until Midnight. The highest snow totals are expected near and north of I-69 with 6"-9" possible along with significant blowing and drifting.

The rest of Metro Detroit will be under a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 7 a.m. Monday until Midnight. Snowfall totals will fall between 3 to 6 inches across these counties. Plan on hazardous driving conditions and slow travel through the day.

Dangerous cold will follow this winter storm with potential for wind chills to dive below -35° both Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Be sure to watch for school closings through the week.
