Winter is finally here and soon the cold will be too. Another round of cold and snow's in the forecast and this time it's giving those of you looking for a White Christmas some hope.

A Quick Warm up First

First, we’ll have to get through a quick warm up with temps climbing near 50 degrees on Wednesday. This warm up will be gradual with clouds building throughout the day. By Wednesday night, the changes start as a strong cold front and upper level trough dig through the Great Lakes bringing rain, snow and falling temps.

Polar Plunge

Temps will tumble dramatically during the day on Thursday. In fact, we’ll go from highs in the upper 40s to lows in the teens by Friday morning. This strong push of cold air may create enough snow around Metro Detroit to met the White Christmas criteria.

Holiday Snow Chances

By definition, a White Christmas is defined as a snow depth of at least 1 inch by 7 am Christmas morning and we’ve got a shot to meet that criteria. Arctic air is guaranteed to ignite the lake effect snow machine but the question is, will it be enough for a White Christmas? We'll see.
