General Holiefield facing charge of reckless use of firearm
HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich., (WXYZ) - Macomb County Sheriff's Office has issued a warrant for UAW Vice Present General Holiefield after he accidentally shot his wife.
Police were called to Holiefield's home in Harrison Township on December 30 after the 60-year-old's semi-automatic handgun accidentally discharged while he was cleaning it at his kitchen table.
The single round fired struck his wife in the abdomen.
"He is way more devastated by what happened to his wife Monica than any criminal proceedings," says Holifield's attorney, Rob Huth.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for Reckless Use of a Firearm.
"The criminal proceedings are the least of his concern. His wife's health is priority number one," says Huth.
He also says Monica Morgan is worried about her husband and is standing by him.
This crime is a misdemeanor and carries a potential 90-day jail term or $500 fine.
Holiefield has yet to be formally charged in court. His attorney says they have not set a date yet.
