A new bill linked to the Larry Nassar sex abuse scandal could mean less money for Michigan universities.

On Thursday, a state House panel approved cutting 10 percent of funding from schools that don't comply with new proposed requirements.

Under the new rules, schools can no longer use in-house medical experts for certain investigations into sex abuse.

On Wednesday, a state committee voted to require the governing board of each university to receive notice of any possible sexual misconduct on campus.

Lawmakers now have to work out the differences between the bills.
