(WXYZ) — The Michigan Department of Corrections is confirming convicted murderer Bob Bashara has died at the age of 62.

He died in a hospital in Ann Arbor. According to records, Bashara was being held at the Woodland Center Correctional Facility in Whitmore Lake. He was serving a life sentence.

Bashara's murder trial became of spectacle amid allegations of affairs and sex dungeons.

Bashara's wife, Jane Bashara, was found strangled to death in January of 2012.

Joe Gentz, Bashara's former handyman, originally claimed Bob forced him to kill her--but later changed his story to say police coerced him to frame Bashara.

Bashara was convicted on multiple charges, including murder, in his wife's death. He was also convicted for trying to hire a hitman to kill Gentz.

He previously fought for a new trial that included him taking the stand in his defense. On the stand, he talked about his secret life of S&M in great detail.

Bashara also told the court he was different from other men in the lifestyle because he helped one of his former submissives get a job.

He also talked about his relationship with his wife, Jane, and what she knew about his so-called "secret life" of domination.
