(WXYZ) — The body of a Michigan man who died in Iraq after being deported is being flown back to Michigan and will arrive in Detroit on Friday.

Forty-one-year-old Jimmy Aldaoud suffered from diabetes and schizophrenia and other mental health issues when he was deported to Iraq, despite not speaking Arabic or having family in that country. He died earlier this month after having posted a video to Facebook describing what had happened to him.

Congressman Andy Levin worked with Aldaoud's family, as well as government officials in both the US and Iraq to return his body to metro Detroit.

A private funeral is scheduled for next week.
