FLINT, Mich. (WXYZ) — A boil filtered water advisory has been issued for Flint water customers as a precaution due to a water main break, the city announced Thursday.

The advisory is due to the loss of water pressure in the water distribution system, which was caused by the main break.

The water main break occurred at 1212 Street, just east of Van Slyke. The break was caused by a contractor doing a demolition of a bridge in the area.

"Not knowing the extent of the area depressurized we are issuing it for the WHOLE CITY OF FLINT WATER SERVICE AREA," the city of Flint wrote in a press release.

Th boil water notice is expected to be lifted after 24 hours. Customers are urged not to drink water before boiling it first.
