Boy fighting leukemia gets to be Batkid for a day

(WXYZ) - A young boy from San Francisco fighting a tough battle is about to get the ultimate superhero wish.

Miles, who is just 5 years old, has leukemia and finds inspiration through some of his favorite super heroes.

So, when the Make A Wish Foundation asked Miles for his wish, he told them he wanted to be "Batkid."

From there, a plan was hatched to create a day little Miles will never forget.

On November 15, the Make A Wish Foundation is turning San Francisco into Gotham City.

The day will start with a breaking news story and then the San Francisco police chief will make a call for the help of "Batkid."

Miles will then have to rescue a damsel in distress, capture Riddler in the act of robbing a downtown vault and rescue a famous mascot from the Penguin. The Batmobile will even be on display.

The remarkable part about this plan is that the Make A Wish Foundation says they have had more than 11 thousand people sign up to help participate in the action and make it feel as realistic as possible for Miles.

A spokesperson for the Make A Wish Foundation says that people are even flying in to help out with the wish.

Now, if you want to follow along with all of the action on Friday, be sure to check out the hashtag #SFBatkid on Twitter. Volunteers will be tweeting updates about Miles' big day.

Even if you can't be in San Francisco to cheer Miles on, you can still donate to help other wish kids who are battling a life-threatening medical condition.
