The Michigan Humane Society moved from their current location 7401 Chrysler Drive -- to a brand new facility just a few blocks away at 7887 Chrysler Drive.

So, how did they get the animals there? In a four-legged parade!

Matthew Pepper, President and CEO of Michigan Humane Society, explained. "This facility is designed top to bottom to be a better environment for the animals."

The organization had been working out of the old building since the 1930's.

Now the feeling goes from dreary to dreamy, for the animals and volunteers!

Many of the dogs like their new digs, like Lucy.

Volunteer Pam Arning said, "I walked Lucy from our old shelter and she walked right in her pod and she was just as happy as could be. You could see a smile on her face."

The Michigan Humane Society's new building is a healthier environment.

"They have a new ventilation system, the dogs can't see each other, like a kennel situation so they get less stressed," Arning explained.

"We saved more than 11,000 lives in 2015," Pepper explained. "That happens out of an old converted Piston factory. Imagine the potential that exists in this facility.

The facility officially opens Monday at noon.
