WXYZ — The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting inside a gas station in Macomb Township.
Deputies say a customer entered the Mobil Gas Station on Hall Road near Heydenreich Saturday night, and hit the clerk over the head with a bottle. The clerk responded by shooting the suspect multiple times in the abdomen.
We're told the suspect was conscious when he was rushed to the hospital. The worker is also undergoing a medical evaluation.
At this point, a motive is unclear. Deputies say the clerk is cooperating and is not in custody at this time.
