It took a while, but the coldest air of the season has arrived with a blanket of frost and temperatures plummeting into the 20s this morning!

It has been an unseasonably mild October considering we typically see our first freeze between October 11-20. We've only had six cooler than average days so far this month. October tends to be a big transition month as far as temperatures go. Even with the chilly air filtering in, we can still enjoy the milder temperatures from time-to-time. If you're not thrilled with the changing season, you'll be happy to see Friday’s highs near 60 degrees. However, don’t get used to it, because a surge of colder air arrives just in time for the weekend with the first snowflakes of the season possible!
This is the 6-10 Day temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for Oct. 31 through Nov. 4. Michigan is “in the blue” with a high chance of cooler than average temperatures into the first week of November. This pattern may stay with us for much of the winter with the cold centered from the Northern Rockies east to the Western Great Lakes and south to the Ohio and Missouri Valleys.
So, bundle up on these cold mornings, because we know there are many more to come.
