Burn hazard prompts major video baby monitor recall

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a major recall of video baby monitors due to a burn hazard.

According to the CPSC, the recall involves Lorex Care "N" Share video baby monitors.

The model numbers are: WL3520, WL4320 and WL3401. All model numbers are printed on the back panel of the monitor. The monitors were sold in bundles with cameras.

Batteries in the monitor can overheat, swell and expand, which can cause the batter cover to open or come off expose the hot batteries.

So far, there have been 488 reports of batteries overheating and expanding. 140 of those involved the plastic over coming off, but there have been no reports of injuries.

The monitors have a white plastic back and either a white or black border, with "LOREX" or "The Lorex Baby" printed below the monitor screen.

They were sold at Babies "R" Us, B&H, Best Buy, Target, The Home Depot, Walmart and at Amazon and Lorex websites from May 2013 until April 2016.
