If you've ever wanted to be verified on Twitter, now you have a chance to make your case.

Twitter announced on its official blog that it has now opened an online application process for verified accounts.

The company hopes to find more organizations and individuals of public interest to highlight.

Accounts most likely to get that special checkmark include people and businesses involved in areas like music, television, fashion, film, government, and media.

If you want to try to get that status, you need to make sure your account is on point. To apply, Twitter says the user's account must have a verified phone number, confirmed email address, bio, profile picture, header photo, birthday and website listed.

Your tweets also must be set as public in privacy settings.

Now, within the form, Twitter also asks you to explain why you should be verified.

The company notes it could request a photo of a government issued ID, too.

The whole submission process is pretty simple and will probably take you a couple of minutes. It's worth a shot!
