DETROIT (WXYZ) — Businesses along Detroit's Avenue of Fashion say they are hurting because of construction, and are hoping a crowd shows up on Friday night and through the weekend to help them out.

On Friday night, the area is hosting a "cash mob" expected to draw hundreds to the 7 Mile and Livernois corridor to help provide relief to some of the businesses

The impact of the ripped up roads and construction barrels has rippled some of the stores.

One owner we talked to says business hasn't slowed down – it's stopped.

"It has dropped dramatically," Bianca Criswell said. "I mean dramatically tot he point that you have to negotiate with your landlord. You feel that everything you work for is down the drain.

The cash mob organizers hope to draw at least 100 people in and bring in at least $5,000. The construction project is behind schedule due to weather and other issues.
