CHESTERFIELD TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) — It’s video of a wild attack allegedly over a romantic breakup that’s led to criminal charges.

Prosecutors say the compelling evidence captured on video shows exactly what unfolded at a car wash in Chesterfield Township.

“This is someone who premeditated an attack and actually rammed into the victim with a minivan and returned soon after for another round,” says Prosecutor Eric Smith.

He says it took place at the Auto Car Wash off Jefferson.

Now, 25-year-old Roy Kowalski is facing felony charges of assault and battery, and assault with intent to commit murder.

“Apparently there’s a history between the two of them involving a woman,” Smith says.

In the video from that Nov. 3 altercation, you can see the victim pick up a shovel to defend himself after being hit with the vehicle.

“It’s a terrible idea to hit someone with your car, and we charge very serious charges," Smith said. "It’s even worse to come back because he gets in a very lengthy fight with our victim."

The incident ended with an arrest of the driver, who is now free on bond. Smith says the victim had just started dating a coworker who was previously involved with the defendant.

Prosecutors say the victim and defendant were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
