Beginning this morning, no visitors under the age of 18 will be allowed to inpatient areas of Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.

Hospital officials say they're seeing a high volume of seasonal flu cases and children are very susceptible to catching the bug.

Clinics we spoke with say they are also experiencing a higher number of patients with coughs, runny noses and fevers.

Many of those patients are testing positive for the flu.

Doctors and staff are urging people to get that flu shot as the illness begins to spread.

The Wayne County Health Department says there is an uptick, but that it's not unusual because this is the flu season. They ask you to take precautions by washing your hands frequently.
