On May 22, community members gathered for the Thou Shall Not Kill Motorcade and Rally.

The efforts started this past March when Mayor Mike Duggan officially declared the 22nd of each month as the city-wide day of peace and violence.

A faith-based group called the United Communities of America kicked off the motorcade, calling for the end of the violence that plagues Detroit neighborhoods.

Funeral homes, city leaders and faith based groups played a large role in organizing the event.

The motorcade began on the city’s west side at Grand River and Livernois and traveled for more than 10 miles. It featured about 300 cars including several hearses.
