A national talk show host held a special town hall meeting in Flint Wednesday night.

Rachel Maddow was at Holmes Stem Academy with 500 invited guests, focusing on what's next during the water crisis. Federal and state lawmakers, along with those who first discovered the elevated lead levels in the drinking water were on hand in the gym.

Dr. Mona Hanna Attisha, who first discovered high lead levels in the blood of children, sounded encouraged by new developments. She is part of a group tapped by Governor Snyder to study water quality and aid in recovery.

She says, "If the actions follow their words, then I feel our kids' future will be even brighter than before."

Snyder was invited to the town hall meeting, but was not there.

Congressman Dan Kildee tells 7 Action News, the governor needs to stop worrying about his image and "step up." Kildee went on to say he doesn't understand why Snyder is not being called to testify in front of a U.S. House committee hearing next week in DC on the water crisis.

Meanwhile, the ACLU is the latest to file a lawsuit, demanding new infrastructure and pipes with no cost to residents.
