(WXYZ) — Over 194,000 Michigan homes and business have had power restored by Consumers Energy after severe storms hit the state Friday and Saturday.
About 26,000 customers remain without service throughout the state. The majority of those customers are expected to have power restored by end of day Tuesday.
“We appreciate the patience of our customers as the restoration work has moved into its fourth day following a violent storm that ripped through Michigan leaving significant damage in its wake last Friday,” said Guy Packard, Consumers Energy’s vice president of electric operations, in a release. “Our priority over the next 16 hours will be to take advantage of ideal weather conditions as we restore customers still impacted as safely and quickly as we can. The majority of the affected customers will be restored by the end of the day Tuesday.”

In addition to the repairs, Consumers Energy volunteers are passing out ice and water in Jenison, which is near Grand Rapids.
