WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — Controversy is growing over how to replace Jewel Ware on the Wayne County Commission. She passed away last week of a heart attack at the age of 66.

Some say there should be a special election in the Second District. Some say a replacement should be appointed by the county commissioners from a list of people who submitted their names for consideration.

A meeting will be held Thursday morning to discuss how to move forward with Ware's replacement. Commissioner Tim Kileen will speak out that this should be decided by the voters, not politicians.

Ware died in early December from an apparent heart attack. She served as the commission's vice-chair pro tempre.
