Convicted felon tased after attempting to flee police in Inkster

INKSTER, Mich. (WXYZ) — A convicted felon fleeing police was tased and taken into custody Wednesday in the City of Inkster, according Michigan State Police.

Around 11:35 p.m., troopers on patrol saw a man driving without headlights on Liberty Street and Burton Street. When the troopers approached the vehicle, the suspect quickly parked and jumped out of the car.

The man began running as the troopers tried to make contact with him. According to Michigan State Police, a short chase ensued and the troopers deployed a taser that struck the suspect's back.

He was taken into custody without injury.

Officers found the man had a warrant from the 3rd Circuit Court and was a convicted felon.

After searching the vehicle, police found an unregistered loaded pistol an bottle of amphetamine pills.

The suspect has been placed at the Inkster Police Department pending review of resisting and obstruction of police officer carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of analogues.
