GROSSE POINTE WOODS (WXYZ) — In today’s ‘We’re Open Detroit’ we check out Lyla’s Catering in Grosse Pointe Woods on Mack Avenue near Vernier Road.

They are adjusting the way they do business during the stay at home order.

Bill Saigh co-owns Lyla’s Catering.

Right now, like many restaurants, they rely on carry out orders.

Lyla’s braced themselves for business to be slow.

But Bill says it’s been surprisingly steady and he has a theory why.

“We’re still seeing a lot of our regulars, we’re seeing a lot of new people. I think around this area in Grosse Point, a lot of places are shutdown.”

Layla’s offers Lebanese food, but on Wednesday’s they have a special dinner from a different kind of cuisine not found on the menu.

In order to survive the shutdown, they had to condense the menu, work with a limited staff and trim hours a bit.

“A lot of people who are working from home now. We are not seeing the lunch crowd as much.”

Bill is hoping to see new faces picking up orders.

“Give some Lebanese cuisine a try, if you haven’t tried it before. We are here to help you, just be a little patient if we are a little busy, but we are going to do everything we can to reach out as far as we can.”
