A complaint filed by a Flint resident calling for a one-person grand jury investigation of Governor Rick Snyder regarding his payment for legal fees was denied by Ingham County Circuit Court.

Earlier this month, Keri Webber and her attorney, former Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer, asked a court to investigate whether the governor violated the law when he approved a state contract that allowed him to use $2 million in taxpayer dollars for legal fees related to Flint.

Webber told 7 Action News that her family was quickly poisoned during the Flint water crisis.

“While I respect the Court’s decision, I will continue to fight for my family and the people of Michigan by holding Gov. Snyder accountable,” stated Webber in a press release. “My family’s health has been devastated by the lead that was in our water system. Our family, like so many in Flint, has struggled in immeasurable ways since this crisis began, I want to say how incredibly shameful it is that taxpayer money is going to pay for the criminal defense of the very person who was at the center of the poisoning of our drinking water to begin with: Gov. Rick Snyder.”
