CPL holder ambushed during suspected meeting with online date, but returns fire

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 57-year-old Detroit man, who is also a CPL holder, is in critical condition after going to meet a woman he met on a dating website. The man was instead ambushed by an 18-year-old man who attempted to rob him, police said.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 in the 9300 block of Woodside.

The victim had plans of meeting with a woman he met online at the location. However, when he arrived, he was greeted by the 18-year-old who tried robbing him at gunpoint. The victim, who is a CPL holder, used his registered gun to exchange gunfire with the suspect and both were hit multiple times.

The men were taken to a local hospital and are listed in critical condition. Both guns were recovered from the scene.
