DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Crestwood School District has appointed a new superintendent. This comes weeks after parents expressed concerns over unfair hiring practices for top positions in the district.

Youssef Mosallam was appointed Superintendent of Crestwood schools Wednesday.

He currently works in Dearborn Public Schools.

In September, 7 Action News reported that parents were upset about previous hires by the school board because those included some relatives of board members.

“Yes, we need to make some changes,” said School Board Vice President Colleen Kriszanic in an interview with 7 Action News. “We have an outside agency that we respect looking at top candidates for us to review, for the position of Superintendent.”

It's unclear when the new superintendent will start his position with Crestwood.
