Dad appears in court after leaving children in car at casino parking garage

Standing before a judge from the Detroit City Jail, Montez Sistrunk was formally charged by video at 36th district court.

The 25-year-old father now faces two counts of Second Degree Child Abuse.

Monday, two babies were discovered locked in a vehicle for 30 minutes –at the MotorCity Casino.

An employee rushed to get security after noticing the five-month-old infant and two-year-old boy were in danger.

Detroit police detained Sistrunk for hours as they investigated what happened.

Police told 7 Action News at the time the children were found it was 75 degrees but inside the car, it could have reached as high as 120 degrees.

It is believed Sistrunk had left his kids in the car, while he went to gamble inside the casino, leaving them in an a potentially deadly situation.

His bond was set at $75,000, ten percent.
