Dakota High School teacher ordered to repay $30,000 in embezzlement scandal

A Dakota High School Spanish teacher plead no contest to embezzlement after being charged with stealing money from the school's homecoming dance and using that money at the casino. 

Lydia Johnson was arraigned in 2017 for the crime. She plead no contest to embezzlement between $200 and $1,000, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail. She has been ordered to repay $30,000 to the Chippewa Valley School District.

The Macomb Township teacher will serve two years of probation and is ordered to seek treatment for gambling and have no contact with the school.
