NOVI, MICHIGAN (WXYZ) — Sometimes something doesn’t fit quite right. Sometimes you get double. Sometimes you simply need something else more. This always leads to a busy day at stores on the day after Christmas.
Stores are taking advantage of the crowds making returns, offering specials to make sure people don;t just return items, but buy something.
“After we started exchanging some things we found some great deals,” said Leslie Domlovil, a shopper out at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi on the day after Christmas.
“We are going through and picking up some things that maybe we didn’t get off our Christmas list,” said Tom Domlovil.
For some the fact there are deals after Christmas has motivated them to head to the mall with nothing to return and instead wish list items in mind.
“Santa kind of missed a few things, so we thought - we will help you out Santa,” said Victoria Steward, a shopper.
Many also headed out to spend gift cards. The National Retail Federation says its survey found out that twenty-seven-percent of holiday shoppers planned to head to the stores the day after Christmas to spend gift cards received for Christmas
December 27th is expected to be another busy day. Just know, if you need to head out to make returns. there is a time to beat the crowds.
“I think the bulk of the traffic comes between one and six pm, so if people come later they are in good shape. If they come earlier they are in good shape,” said Dan Jones, Twelve Oaks Mall General Manager.
