DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Dearborn City Council voted unanimously to replace the Hubbard Ballroom name at the civic center.
The ballroom was previously named after the late Mayor Orville Hubbard. He was a known racist and segregationist.
In June of last year, a statue of Hubbard was removed for a second time.

Hubbard's statue sat outside the Dearborn Historical Museum on Brady Street. It moved there in 2015 from the old Dearborn City Hall building on Michigan Avenue.
The city of Dearborn released a statement shortly after the vote:
The City reinvested in this facility to turn it into something very desirable and unique in the region. To signal this change, and as a way to make it more welcoming to people of goodwill from all backgrounds, the name has been rebranded from the Hubbard Ballroom to the Lincoln Ballroom.
The ballroom is now named after former President Abraham Lincoln, effectively immediately.
