DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit businessman Michael Evans was in line to pay taxes on his property Friday when he noticed a woman crying in the Wayne County Treasurer's Office.

The woman was about to lose her home and Evans overheard the teller inform the woman, who was in a wheelchair, that her house had been foreclosed on, according to a report from WWJ.

The woman's taxes totaled $5,000.

Evans told WWJ that "something just told me we couldn't let that happen, so I just had to do it."

Adding that his father had recently passed away two months ago ad he couldn't picture the woman losing her house. Evans paid the full tax bill for the woman.

Wayne County Treasurer Eric Sabree told WWJ that the situation was "very unusual."
