With Halloween over, the calendar turns to November and people start counting down the days until the holiday season.

One of the major events to kick off the holiday season is the arrival of the Detroit Christmas tree at Campus Martius Park.

The tree arrived on Wednesday morning and will be put into place around 12 p.m. WXYZ will stream the placement of the tree at 12 p.m.

Sponsored by the Downtown Detroit Partnership and the DTE Energy Foundation, the tree installation will mark the start of the holiday season at Campus Martius.

The Norwegian Spruce was grown in Michigan and will stand over 60 feet tall, weighing more than 10,000 pounds. It will arrive from Cadillac and be decorated with over 19,000 lights.

The official lighting of the tree will happen on Friday, Nov. 17 during Light Up The Season, which will air live on Channel 7.
