It’s the 5th anniversary of Detroit homecoming. Tonight featured ex-pats and Detroiters are talking about the rebirth of Detroit and the city's future.

Some of the top business owners and entrepreneurs in the US were at Little Caesars Arena, and they all have a connection to the city.

"It’s really nice to come back and see everything that’s happening in the city," said expat attendee Ryan Fogelman.

"I never gave up hope on Detroit. Everywhere I went around the world, I would always say Detroit will be the quintessential 21st-century city," said David Rice, Chairman of the Organization of Black Designers.

Homecoming celebrates everything Detroit - from business to the city’s revitalization - and has produced more than $300 million in new, pending and closed investments.

"I think this is the Midwest, where the actual, full dynamic of growth in terms of the new digital era we are in and this new creative society," Rice said.

The theme “Detroit made” highlighting the city’s makers and entrepreneurs all across metro Detroit.

"It’s a really amazing thing to feel like you’re apart of something that for years was the butt of the joke," Fogelman said.

One thing everyone can agree on,  the city’s future never looked brighter.

"Now we can actually say hey we’re from Detroit and not feel like it’s a bad thing, it’s actually a great thing," Fogelman said.

Detroit Homecoming goes until September 14.
