DETROIT (WXYZ) — A Detroit man has been charged in connection with the double shooting that killed two men inside a home on the city's west side.

Wayne County prosecutors charged 44-year-old Sylvester Denard Gilmore for his involvement in the homicides of 69-year-old Vietnam veteran Anthony Foster and 41-year-old Devon Gillard, both from Detroit.

On Dec. 12 around 12:15 a.m., it is alleged that Gilmore had a verbal disagreement with Foster and Gillard in the 11740 block of Manor. Gilmore fatally shot them with a handgun, prosecutors say.

Detroit police responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m. and saw the two victims in the living room of the home. Officers also saw Gilmore seated in a living room chair with a handgun next to him.

Medics arrived at the scene and pronounced the two victims deceased. Gilmore was taken into custody at the scene.

He has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of felony firearm. He is expected to be arraigned on Saturday, Dec. 14 after 11 a.m. in 34th District Court in Romulus.

Family of Foster and Gillard held a vigil Friday night in Detroit to mourn the loss of their loved ones.
