DETROIT (WXYZ) — $30,000 of Razor scooters are being given away to kids in Highland Park, Detroit and Hamtramck, and all they have to do is make a video saying they want one!

It’s the result of an idea Andy Didorosi, owner of the Detroit Bus Company, had more than a year ago when he found a bunch of kids playing on rental scooters with dead batteries. He realized the Detroiters who would most appreciate the scooters can’t use them. They aren’t over 18, they don’t have a credit card and many don’t have a smart phone to download the app.

So last year he raised money, bought some scooters and donated them to kids through schools.

Now, the company Razor has shipped him $30,000 of scooters and matching helmets to give away for free!

This time around, Didorosi and his team are making personal deliveries. Kids can apply for a free scooter (and helmet) by making a cell phone video saying who they are, where they would go on the scooter and why they want one.

Kids have to be in high school or younger, have their parents permission and live in Detroit, Hamtramck or Highland Park.

It’s not a competition, it’s first come first serve! So get those videos in!
