Mayor going to court to keep city police pay cut in place
(WXYZ) - Who is calling the shots at Detroit City Hall?
Detroit Mayor Dave Bing is appealing an arbitration award that gives police officers 5 percent of their 10 percent pay cut back as of January 2014.
But the president of the Detroit Police Officers Association questions the move when Detroit is a month into the control of Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr.
A spokesman for Orr tells 7 Action News Orr can vacate any union contract and impose his own terms including pay, but has chosen not to do that at this time.
