DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Public Schools Community District is launching a new initiative to improve literacy.
Superintendent Nikolai Vitti says the schools and teachers can't do it alone, so the district is calling for volunteers to join the Let's Read program.
They will help students with their reading skills in small groups or individually.
The initiative is focusing on kindergarten through third grade.
