For a second day in a row, all students in Detroit public schools will be dismissed early Tuesday due to high temperatures.

A district spokesperson tells 7 Action News that 61 of their 104 buildings do not have air conditioning.

The following statement was released late Monday afternoon:

All DPSCD schools will follow the half day dismissal schedule for Tuesday, September 26 due to near record high temperatures this fall. Please ensure that all students attend school as teaching and learning is still expected. Temperatures are expected to range up to the mid-90s. The half day early dismissal schedule is for school-based staff and students. All Central Office staff must remain at work the full work day.

In addition, all afternoon sports and training are canceled Tuesday. For a list of half day dismissal times, please visit the school profile pages at detroitk12.org.

Based on current weather predictions, we expect to return to our regular schedule on Wednesday.
