Some new apartments in Corktown are going up and they're getting a lot of attention. The complex sits on Trumbull and Michigan, but the units are not being built on site.

They're at the site of the old Tiger Stadium and now the site of the Detroit PAL's Corner Ballpark and complex.

Now, Eric Larson from Larson Realty Group has the city's first-ever stacked modular home being cropped at the corner.

It's a $30 million project with more than 100 units and a dozen retail spaces. Larson says hotels use this method. The pros include building off site to save time and allow them to make units for sound proof.

The apartments are lifted into place by a crane, sort of like how steel is lifted.

Rent will start at $1,100 for the apartments. 20 percent of the units and 50 percent of the retail space will be for people with lower income.

The apartment complex is already taking reservations for leasing and it's expected to be complete in February.
