DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police say a teen fabricated an attempted abduction, saying that she escaped kidnapping while walking to school Thursday morning.

Police say that after conducting further interviews with the teen and her mother, it was found that the girl lied about the incident.

The girl initially told police the alleged kidnapping happened around 9:35 a.m. near Chene and Gratiot on the city's east side.

The girl said she was walking to school when a man pulled up in a pickup truck and physically grabbed her, but she told police she was able to break free and run.
