It includes different locations in Midtown, New Center and TechTown.

The project will create 1,000 apartments and various retail space within walking distance of the Q-line.

A few locations have been named, including the Kahn building, Baltimore & Woodward Avenue and Third Avenue & West Grand Boulevard.

Cummings has been active in trying to rebuild the city.

"I have an attachment to Detroit that goes beyond economics for me. It has to do with my belief in the city and the people and the spirit of it."

The first phase of the project is converting a  parking lot at Third Avenue and Grand Boulevard into a building with hundreds of apartments.
