(WXYZ) — The iconic white Hunter House Hamburger building may be torn down if development plans for a five-story, mixed use property are approved by the Birmingham Planning Board.

According to owner Kelly Cobb, the burger joint would get a spot on the ground floor of the new development space, but he doesn't support the proposed plan.

Cobb told the Free Press, "Hunter House has a number of concerns about the development and we have not approved the project."

The Birmingham Planning Board's next meeting is Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall on Martin Street.
