DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Public Schools Community District is investigating an allegation of inappropriate conduct by a middle school employee, a statement from the district announced Monday.
A staff member at Burns Middle School has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation after the mother of a student says the employee made inappropriate comments toward her daughter during a gym class.
According to the mother, the employee allegedly asked the student if she had a boyfriend after she had asked to sit out of class because she was on her menstrual cycle. The student then told her mother that the male employee said that when she does get a boyfriend she should make sure he's as cool as him. The mother added that her daughter was uncomfortable with the interaction.
The district said in a statement that parents were notified of the incident and urged to contact employee relations if their child told them of any inappropriate interactions with any district or school employee.
