Dollar General herbal water for infants recalled due to undissolved ingredients

(WXYZ) — A voluntary recall has been issued for Baby Gripe Water sold at Dollar General stores across the country.

Baby Gripe Water is a herbal supplement with organic ginger and fennel extracts. The recall is because of an undissolved ingredient that may cause difficulty swallowing.

According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, the undissolved ingredient in the product is known as citrus flavonoid. The product is manufactured by Kingston Pharma, LLC.

There has been one report of a 1-week-old infant having difficulty swallowing the product, and three complaints regarding the issue.

The recall is for all lots of the product, which is given orally to infants and adults. Baby Gripe Water is packaged in 4-ounce amber bottles, with white plastic safety seal caps. They also come with an oral syringe. The UPC code of the product is 8 5495400246 3.

Consumers with this product should discontinue use and discard the product.
