Driver of stolen school bus in metro Detroit identified himself as 'God'

The driver of a stolen school bus is behind bars after causing multi-vehicle accident in Pontiac on October 28.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responded to 911 calls from witnesses reporting a crash involving a school bus near Orchard Lake Road and Berwick Street. Witnesses told police the bus driver was walking away from the crash scene.

A Sylvan Lake police officer then arrived at the scene and arrested the driver who was reportedly trying to evade officers.  The 36-year-old man from Pontiac identified himself as "God."

There was significant damage to the bus and other vehicles were involved. The Oakland County Sheriff's Department discovered that the school bus had been stolen from Webber Academy on Woodward Avenue. 

One of the drivers struck by the bus was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover. The other drivers declined treatment.

The driver was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and additional misdemeanor charges.
