Police in Warren are investigating an early morning crash at the intersection of Eight Mile Road and Groesbeck.

The intersection will be closed in all directions until sometime Monday, Nov. 5, according to Capt. R. Ahrens of the Warren Police Department.

Investigators say at least two cars were involved, and that one of them hit a utility pole leaving downed wires on the roadway. The repairs will require road closure to repair.

Police say a gold vehicle was traveling eastbound on E. Eight Mile Road when the driver ran a red signal and struck a red vehicle that was traveling northbound on Groesbeck.

The gold vehicle rolled over and struck a light pole, causing downed wires.

The driver of the gold vehicle, a 31-year-old man, died. The driver of the red vehicle, a 42-year-old man, was shaken up, police say, but refused medical treatment on the scene.

Warren police are continuing to assist DTE through the investigation.
